Can the Old Handwriting browser extension translate foreign languages?

Absolutely! If you are transcribing a document written in a language other than your native language, you can get the text translated directly in the browser extension.

  1. After the transcription of the handwritten text is complete, click on the More Actions menu (⋮)  and select the Translate option from the menu.

Note that Translate menu option reflects the language setting of your web browser. If your language is English, then the option will be "Translate to English".

  2. After a short processing time the translation will be shown below.

The Translate feature can also be used to "translate" older text to a more modern version of the same language. Here's an example of a transcribed text from the 17th century that has been translated to modern English.
