The AI models have been trained on the historic documents as they appear today, with non-white backgrounds. So you should not have to worry about non-white backgrounds.

Please note:

• If there is dirt or colored patches or blotches on the paper, this may interfere with the transcription in those areas.
• The transcription does not work as well on images with "reversed" colors, i.e. white text on a black background.
